Ralph Waldo Emerson Quotes

I have been reading many of Mr. Emerson’s works lately.  There seems to be a recurring theme in my life right now about being unafraid, taking risks, and loving/living every day to the fullest.  I am thankful for these recurring themes, and seeing as how much they currently apply to my life, and how fascinated he was with these themes, his writing has had a great deal of influence on me.  Here are some quotes of his in particular that stuck out to me.  They may or may not have to do with any of the themes, but I hope you too can bask and marvel in his genius.

“Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. What if they are a little coarse, and you may get your coat soiled or torn? What if you do fail, and get fairly rolled in the dirt once or twice. Up again, you shall never be so afraid of a tumble.”

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

“Don’t waste yourself in rejection, nor bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good.”

“Give all to love; obey thy heart.”

“Many of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.”

“A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature.”

“Do the thing we fear. And death of fear is certain.”

“Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world.”

“For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.”

“It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.”

“Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.”

“No change of circumstances can repair a defect of character.”

“No great man ever complains of want of opportunity.”

“Nothing external to you has any power over you.”

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.”

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fall.”

“The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.”

“The invariable mark of wisdom is to see the miraculous in the common.”

“To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

“Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.”

“Words are also actions.”

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”

Songs of the Week

For some reason I cannot stop listening to these songs!

I love most of Cascada’s music (even though some of it tends to sound pretty similar after a while).  And I love how pop music is recently getting its influences from European techno.  Good choice pop culture!  ;)  I love the whole futuristic sound that Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, and so many other DJs and artists have introduced to the mass media internationally! I think another reason I really like ‘Evacuate the Dance Floor’ is because you could dance a pretty badass cha cha to it! :D

The Dream’s song is addicting also, because it’s futuristic but still has genuine emotion in it.  I love how the song changes it up a lot, which constantly keeps me interested as a listener.  The tempo changes and instrumental changes are really cool to listen to.

Enjoy! :D
